This recipe has many variations. you can add the orange, clove and honey or leave them out for a purer tasting drink, more like a medicine.
Ingredients:
fresh ginger – a branch 5 inches (13cm) long
3 slices of orange (optional)
4 cloves (optional)
2.5 liters of cold water
3 Tablespoons of honey (optional)

Wash the ginger and remove any dark parts of the skin.There is no need to remove all the skin. Grate the ginger into a large pot. Add all the water and bring it to the boil. Then turn down the heat and cook for 30 minutes. You want it to simmer slowly not to rapidly boil. Then add the orange slices and cloves and simmer another 30 minutes. When you take it off the burner this is the time to add the honey if you want it sweet. At this point you can drink it as a hot tea or let it cool down and put in the fridge to get cool (1 hour).
